In an effort to reduce the amount of waste produced and to make our communication more effective and efficient, our PTA will continue to utilize two successful programs that were integrated last year. First, the Brentfield Broadcast Email (Listserv) system was begun. Parents can go to www.brentfieldpta.org, to sign up for the automated email list. Then, when important events or information needs to be communicated, an email will be sent to all who signed up.
Second, an eco-friendly Wednesday take-home folder system was implemented. This not only reduced the amount of paper waste produced, but it also made going through Wednesday folders much more efficient for parents. Here is an overview of how it works:
GREEN folders, sent home with all PRIMARY STUDENTS and YOUNGEST SIBLINGS, will receive ALL information sent home by the school and the PTA.
YELLOW folders, sent home just with OLDER SIBLINGS, will receive only class-specific information and will NOT receive a copy of school or PTA information because it is going home with a younger sibling.
In addition, all third party free advertisements have been eliminated. However, information from sister schools, non-profit groups, and sports leagues (SVAA, DNSA, etc.) will still be included. If you would prefer not to participate in this program, we are happy to exchange the yellow folder for a green one so that your child will receive a copy of everything. And if you ever feel like you are not receiving information, please inform your teacher so we can make sure we don’t have a kink in the system. These two programs, Brentfield Broadcast Emails and our new Wednesday take-home folder plan, have greatly improved our communication and lessened our production of paper waste. Please refer to our website for more information www.brentfieldpta.org and to sign up for the Brentfield Broadcast Email (Listserv).
