The inaugural year of the BRENTFIELD EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION FUND (BEEF) has been a huge success. Together through corporate sponsorships and individual donations we have raised approximately $40,000, which is an amazing accomplishment and we should all be very proud of our school community! On behalf of BEEF, thanks to all those who made generous financial contributions and thank you to the many volunteers that made the BEEF events successful.
Our two major events included the 1st Annual Brentfield Golf Tournament at Canyon Creek Country Club which was a wonderful opportunity for Brentfield dads to get involved. The second event was the 2nd Annual Bobcat Boogie. This too was a marvelous event for the community and our Brentfield families to help support our school.
The money raised this school year will go towards completing the fundraising efforts for the Outdoor Classroom. As we look to next school year, BEEF will continue to support Brentfield. Now more than ever Brentfield needs BEEF to help with academic enhancements that are not otherwise covered by the annual operating budget of our school! I hope everyone will continue to support BEEF by participating, donating and volunteering!

Fast Facts about The Fund
Purpose of the fund is to address school-specific needs not otherwise met or available to us through Brentfield and RISD general operating budgets.
JJ Pearce, Richardson High and other RISD schools also have an Excellence in Education fund managed by RISD Tomorrow.
Fund benefits include the ability to offer employer matching, acknowledged memorial and honorary gifts, pledges, online donations and a higher rate of interest paid on the Fund. The fund is affiliated with a trusted foundation that will provide accounting and administrative services. RISD does not charge a fee for these services at this time.

Our fund is a restricted fund, meaning that all the money we raise goes to Brentfield and that we have control over all decisions made regarding how we spend the money in it. The fund works under the guidance of the Local School Council, which is made up of Brentfield teachers, parents and business leaders, under the direction of our principal. Also, a member of the BEEF committee serves as a liaison on the PTA Executive Board to help ensure that our efforts are coordinated.
BEEF functions separately from the PTA. However, we work hand in hand, both with the goal of helping Brentfield continue in its tradition of excellence. The purpose of the PTA is to provide valuable programs and support for our students and teachers and PTA fundraisers will continue as always to fund these programs. BEEF enhances PTA fundraising by providing professional fundraising tools and focusing specifically on the Outdoor Classroom this year.
Upon completion of the OC project, Brentfield Excellence Funds will be used to support other academically oriented initiatives at Brentfield which will make our community stronger.
