What Has Brentfield PTA Done for ME Lately? Have you ever wondered what exactly the PTA is about? What we do and where all that money you spend on fundraisers goes? The Brentfield PTA raises approximately $30,000 in a normal (non-auction) year and we log in thousands of volunteer hours. Here is an overview of some of what we do and how we use the money that we raise: Books and new shelving for the library Produce the Brentfield School Directory School Supply Sale Reflections Art Program Plan & fund field trips for every grade through Arts in Education Beautify our campus with landscaping Help Dobie, our sister school Parent Education programs Newsletter - Bobcat Bulletin published 10 times a year Technology - including our website & listserv Participate in and donate to the RISD Clothes Closet and Used Book Fair Dad's Events Back-To-School Coffee Treats and lunches for our teachers/staff & recognition on their birthday Programs like the Ice Cream Social, Carnival, Multicultural Dinner, Family Fun Night & Buddy Fun Day The Bobcat Boogie - our very own community Fun Run Provided school supplies for those affected by Hurricane Katrina Buddy Family activities for new families at Brentfield Youth Protection & Safety Updates on legislative issues affecting education Produce the Brentfield Yearbook Field maintenance & organization of team practice schedules Staff the clinic with volunteers Volunteer in the classrooms Organize class parties Organize teacher's volunteer sign-up lists Assist the librarians Brentfield PR - watch for us in the paper. We are in there a lot! Update the marquee Coordinate 6th grade activities Provide sports equipment for PE and playground balls for teachers You know the big yellow playground equipment...that was a PTA project of years past Organize our auction party and other social events This summer, we hope to begin construction on the Outdoor Classroom, the largest project ever tackled by Brentfield families. Brentfield parents and teachers are a vibrant bunch, full of talent and WE MAKE THINGS HAPPEN! Count yourself in this year.
